SUPPORTING LEARNING AT KASHASHA COMMUNITY SCHOOL AND NAKIVALE REFUGEE HOST COMMUNITIES
Vital Roots Initiative is excited to announce upcoming activities focused on supporting learning at Kashasha Community School in Nakivale Refugee Settlement, alongside extending support to communities in the surrounding refugee host areas.
What We Are Doing
· Improving Learning Spaces: We will be working to improve infrastructure at Kashasha Community School, including classroom construction and repairs, safe spaces for learning, and the provision of essential learning materials.
· Investing in WASH Facilities: Access to clean water, improved sanitation, and hygiene facilities is critical for learners’ health and school attendance. The project will prioritize construction of latrines, installation of handwashing stations, and rainwater harvesting systems to ensure a safe, dignified learning environment.
· Extending support and services to Refugee Host Communities: Beyond the school, this initiative will support nearby refugee host communities with WASH facilities, nutrition gardens, and hygiene education, enhancing community health and resilience in Nakivale.
Why This Matters: Education is a fundamental right, and every child deserves to learn in a safe, clean, and supportive environment. By improving school infrastructure and WASH facilities, we are not only enhancing education at Kashasha Community School but also promoting community health, reducing disease risks, and strengthening dignity for learners and families in Nakivale.
How You Can Engage: To support these upcoming activities and projects, we are looking for agencies and development partners who share a common interest and goal, and also identifying local suppliers and service providers who can partner with us in delivering these improvements efficiently and sustainably.
